La Organización de Mujeres de la Confederación Intersindical celebra una victoria histórica en la que por fin las empleadas del hogar tendrán los mismos derechos que el resto de trabajadoras y trabajadores de otros sectores. El Congreso de los Diputados ha ratificado el convenio 189 de la Organización Internacional del Trabajo que protege y amplía lo derechos de las empleadas del hogar.
Derecho a la prestación por desempleo, periodos de descanso, sueldos dignos y regulados y seguridad social son los avances más significativos. Estamos hablando de valorar el trabajo de estas mujeres como el de cualquier otras, como un trabajo digno y justo.
Muchas mujeres empleadas del hogar son migrantes, que se ven doblemente damnificadas. La nueva Ley las ampara en todos los trámites legales que sean necesarios para poder realizar estos trabajos.
Movimientos feministas y colectivos de empleadas del hogar se concentraron a las puertas del Congreso para celebrar este gran avance laboral en este sector. Sabemos que es un trabajo feminizado en el que apenas hay hombres que lo realicen y ha sido un trabajo poco valorado a lo largo de la historia, sin condiciones laborales dignas. ¿Qué hubiera ocurrido si lo hubieran realizado mayoritariamente hombres? Seguro que no se hubiera tardado tanto tiempo en regular esta actividad laboral.
Es una victoria que llega tarde, pero ha llegado por fin. La Organización de Mujeres de la CI valora positivamente la decisión de este Gobierno actual que por fin da voz a un colectivo mayoritariamente femenino y discriminado.
